A uniquely refreshing Eastern take on progressive metal led by the beautiful Sitar in the hands of a virtuoso. All band members in this unit are excellent. Thank you so much.
SITAR METAL is the sound of contemporary Bharat, rooted in the ancient, embracing the modern.
Sonically established in 2015 by Sitar Vadaka Rishabh Seen, SITAR METAL has since musically fused Traditional & Contemporary by presenting an instrumental soundscape which has a Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet forefront & a Heavy Metal Backdrop, led by Sitar. It sonically embodies the idea of Virasat & Vikas. This unique & first-of-a-kind instrumental fusion by Rishabh Seen's SITAR METAL symbolizes the meeting of tradition & innovation while retaining the purity & essence of both, resulting in a sound that is both unapologetically Bharatiya & globally resonant at the same time.
Rishabh Seen's second Sitar Metal EP album 'Sitar Metal' featuring 5 songs was originally released on October 1st, 2019. It was hailed as ground-breaking & historic release cementing Sitar Metal as a new genre within itself.
'Sitar Metal' went onto becoming the most successful commercial & creative instrumental album of Bharat of Indian Classical-Metal Genre, reaching millions of people around the world & getting massive viewing/streams numbers, presenting the blueprint of doing instrumental music in the most authentic & unapologetic way. The songs were instrumental, fronted by a Sitar, based on multiple Ragas, taking equal amounts of inspiration from Rishabh Seen's Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet Roots & his knowledge of Metal Music & it's essence & delivering an album that was the perfect blend of traditional & contemporary, spiritual & heavy, melodic & complex.
World's first 'Sitar Tapping' song, taken from Rishabh Seen's 2nd Sitar Metal EP Album 'Sitar Metal'. 'When Time Stands Still' became India's first instrumental Indian Classical-Metal song to cross 10,00,000 (10 Laksham/1 Million) views even after being an independent release.
'When time stands still', यदा कालस्य गति स्थगिता (Sanskrit), जब समय की गति रुक जाए (Hindi) A song about 'Chaos & Resolve in Life'. Going through a chaotic joinery & finally reaching the light of answers. This song captures the feeling of Chaos & Resolve sonically using the Jog, Charukeshi & Mishra Khamaj of Hindusthani Paddhati (1 or the 2 Fundamental Musical Systems/Branches of Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet). It also includes Jugalbandi (Duet) intro between Sitar & other instruments which is a concept of Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet in which two or more instruments go back & forth within a set time-cycle trading melodies which are usually fast paced. The music video was in Delhi around the Signature Bridge area & Yamuna Ghat
On August 20, 2019 after almost 3 years of working on the second Sitar Metal EP Album 'Sitar Metal', When Time Stands Still was released on all music apps along with an official music video. The recordings, mixing mastering of the song & Music Video Shoot which included the logistics of the band members, manager & videographers - were all single-handedly financed by Rishabh Seen, without Rishabh asking for diving the costs amidst members or returns . A night before the release of this song Rishabh Seen, Deeparshi Roy & Tushar Khurana met where Rishabh mentioned that he composed all songs of the album for stadiums, but jokingly said that being instrumental, they might get 150 views by morning. The next morning they all woke up to the news of When Time Stands Still crossing 16,000 views & became a viral sensation overnight, being an instrumental song with no PRs or Ads, sponsors etc.
This song was shared organically by the fans of Sitar Metal & ended up getting streams, headlines & reactions globally where people hailed Sitar Metal as a new Genre in itself. When Time Stands Still was an instant hit becoming the first Indian Classical-Metal instrumental song in the history to hit 10+ Laksham/1+ Million Views. When time stands Still was also the world's first song to feature tapping on the Sitar - a technique that was limited to Bass Guitars & Guitars, Rishabh became the first sitar player to bring that technique to a traditional Sitar without changing the natural sound of a Sitar. This cemented another principle that Rishabh had started his journey on, which was to showcase the youth that Sitar was as versatile as any other instruments (Pianos, Guitars, Violins) but also a step ahead when it comes to being used to generate different techniques & being used in different genres of music
'We Will Never Exist Again' वयं पुनर्न भविष्यामः (Sanskri), हम कभी फिर न होंगे (Hindi) - A song about 'Moksha'. A song to celebrate this one short life, which aims to encapsulate the Adbhuta Rasa (1 of the 9 Rasas), the emotion or the Sentiment of 'Wonder/Surprise of Life'. This emotion was envisioned sonically using the Ragas Yaman Kalyan & Mishra Khamaj of Hindusthani Paddhati (1 or the 2 Musical Systems Branches of Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet). Rishabh Seen self-financed the entire song & video production process. In September 2019, this music video directed by Rishabh Seen in Jalandhar & Nikhil Vision shot & edited the music video.
'I Am The Wake Up Call', अहमेव जागरणस्य घोषः। (Sanskrit), मैं ही जागरण की पुकार हूँ। (Hindi) - A song about 'Awakening Your True Spirit with Valor'. This emotion of वीर रस (Veer Rasa - Fearlessness) was envisioned sonically using the Ragas Bhimpalasi, Charukeshi & Darbari Kannada of Hindusthani Paddhati (1 or the 2 Musical Systems/Branches of Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet).
'Dreamers, We Never Learn' is high-energy song about accepting one's own uniqueness, has sections based on different ragas mainly Raga Shyan Kalyan, Yaman Kalyan & evolves into hitting the final big melodic Sitar-Solo Chorus section set to Raga Mishra Khamaj. This song showcases the wide range of the Sitar from hitting complex leads & Riffs patterns to Melodic Bharatiya Shastriya-esque Sitar Solos & SITAR METAL's signature hard-hitting yet tricky breakdowns.
'Beyond Me Beyond You' मम परं च, तव परं च अस्ति (Sanskrit), मेरे पार भी, तुम्हारे पार भी कुछ है (Hindi) - Is a song about the one that is beyond us, yet within us - Paramatma (Divine/God). This 9 Minute epic aims to capture the feeling of the chaotic & complex journey that happens to reach the divine within one's self. This emotion was envisioned sonically using the Ragas Pilu, Kafi & Mishra Khamaj of Hindusthani Paddhati (1 or the 2 Musical Systems/Branches of Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeet). This song perfectly blends Simplicity & Complexity by featuring sections in different odd beat cycles like 17, 13, 10 still composed in a seamless way helping the listener achieve a flow statement both through the melodies & rhythm.
Headlines from Metal Hammer, Forbes Asia, Metal Injection, Loudwire, Rolling Stone India, Forbes India, Firstpost, BBC U.K. Radio 6 Music & many more came in. Sitar Metal became the first ever Indian Instrumental album nominated for Metal Injection best of 2019 awards & was voted as the #12 best album besides Slipknot, Rammstein, Bring me the horizon, Babymetal & albums from over 200 bands based on open voting from people around the world. When Time Stands Still became the first Indian Classical-Metal instrumental song in the history of Bharat to hit 10+ Laksham/1+ Million Views on 27 June 2023. It was also the World's first song to feature tapping on the Sitar - making Rishabh Seen the first sitar player to bring that technique to a traditional Sitar without changing its natural sound.
With the release of Sitar Metal EP album, Rishabh Seen achieved the first major step in realizing his childhood dream of making SITAR METAL a cultural movement broadening the global influence of Sitar & elevating the place of Instrumental Music in the World while being Bharatiya rooted & Globally resonant.
After the release of SITAR METAL's internationally acclaimed album 'Sitar Metal', the band embarked on their 11-City Album Launch tour of Bharat. This tour featured SITAR METAL performing solo shows at some of the most prestigious Auditoriums & clubs of the country but also Headlining some of the Biggest College Music Festivals like Sabrang Festival (JKLU, Jaipur), Heartwork Tattoo Festival (New Delhi), Zeitgeist Festival (IIT Ropar, Punjab), Udghosh Festival (IIT Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh), Spic Macay Feat. SITAR METAL (Thapar University, Punjab) & Antaragni Festival (IIT Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh), performing to thousands of people while staying true to it's roots of being an instrumental band, which was previously seen as something almost impossible.

its pretty heavy, and its electronic. it gives me a lot of nostalgia also, as it sounds like a lot of indie video game ost from the mid 2010s. MBR is a genius throughout this whole album, and everything else hes touched. lingeringdarkness

Bought the cd (which is great btw!) and I like comparing it to the Keygen Church stuff because you can def hear the similarities... it's nice to have the electronic MBR and then the acoustic Keygen. painfulck

Dana Dan was my introduction to this album, somehow right before watching Monkey Man, where it features in the Hijra fight scene. And I adore that song, but both Aaj and Endurant fill me with such a sense of hope and self and empowerment that I can't help but put Endurant at number one with Aaj right behind it.
As a mixed race desi girl in diaspora with very little connection to my culture, it feels like a kind of welcome home message in this album. love you guys. luthienlapine
